When our clients bought this property, it consisted of a long corrugated iron shed, stretching behind the gardens of Victoria Grove, which was used as offices and a hairdresser.

Our initial application to convert the existing building was successful but it took 2 planning appeals to get permission to build the modern award winning house shown in the photographs.

The project involved digging out 2/3rds of the site to provide a lower ground floor.

With over 12 party wall awards and very limited site access, construction work was very difficult with much of it having to be done by hand.

The end result was a 4,000 sq ft house that won a Royal Institute of British Architects Award for a new house in 2008.

This was not a development for profit project, but a project to build the clients dream home.
